Full Description
A 'Belgic' ceramic pedestal jar and associated cremated human bone fragments were discovered by an employee of a funeral directors whilst hand-digging a grave in a recent extention of Ulcombe Churchyard.
The vessel is a 'belgic' pedestal jar of type A3 (Thompson, BAR 108), and dates the cremation to between the mid first century BC to the early first century AD.
The cremation is that of an adult female probably around the age of 35-45 (1).
