Full Description

An archaeological evaluation was carried out in April 2000 on the proposed site of a new school, previously part of the Royal Marines South Barracks. The evaluation found several struck flints and pottery of Neolithic/early Bronze Age, Iron Age and Roman date but the only features which could be tentatively dated were of probable Iron Age/Early Roman date and consisted of a probable boundary ditch and ditches possibly comprising part of a field system.
