During evaluation work post-medieval features, a wall foundation (Pre Georgian) and yard surface (associated pottery Tyler Hill c.1475-1500) were found along with evidence of Roman and Medieval activity. (1)

In 2002 Canterbury Archaeological Trust carried out an excavation. A building was constructed on the site, perhaps in the 16th century. This was possibly an extension to the earlier property that fronted Wincheap. Evidence for the building consisted of walls, clay floors, a cellar and a yard to the rear. The yard had a drain leading off to the west. A possible cess tank was found beyond the yard. The building was modified in the 17th century with the replacement of some walls with bricks and with the addition of two brick-built fireplaces. The building went out of use, possibly in the 18th century, and was demolished. Further properties were built on the site in the second half of the 18th century or the 19th century. They stood until 1963 when they too were demolished. (2)
