Possible occupation site to the rear of the Old School House, Church Lane, New Romney, Kent, found during an archaeological field evaluation by Oxford Archaeological Unit (January 2001). Excavation of the site found various marine deposits laid down over medieval remains with a concentration of human activity in the 13th century. Various pits, cuts, and post-holes are datable to this period, as well as a number of modest structural features. Finds from the project include abundant potsherds, vertebrate remains, marine molluscs, and fish bones. A brick structure, almost certainly the remains of one of the demolished school buildings which were present on the site, was also discovered along with other modern features.(1)
