Full Description

The remains were severely truncated during the watching brief and subsequent excavation with only 50% remaining in-situ. The grave cut was 1.20m in length running east to west and lay 1.20m below the present day ground surface. A considerable amount of coffin furniture was recovered including nails, studs, and handles, its typology suggesting an 18th to 19th century date. No grave goods were recovered. The remains themselves were in an advanced state of decay although were said to represent an individual of 172cm in height, between 17 and 30 years of age at time of death. (1)
