Summary

Water cistern recorded on 17th and 18th documents which was fed by an aqueduct know as the Town Ditch. The cistern went out of use by the mid 19th century.

Full Description

During wastewater works a wall representing part of a water cistern recorded on 17th and 18th documents which was fed by an aqueduct kown as the Town Ditch. The cistern walls were made up of greensand lumps with a mortar bonding and faced with a thin mortar rendering. The floor was of a single layer of red brick. The stucture is believed to be square or rectangular in plan and went out of use by the mid 19th century.(1)
