Monument record TR 36 SE 341 - Remains of medieval building, Chilton Farm, Ramsgate

Summary

The remains of a late medieval building were found in a field at Chilton Farm. As the site was excavated by the owners of the farm its current state is uncertain. It was reportedly square in shape and the walls were made of chalk blocks. Medieval tile and brick have also been found in the surrounding area.

Full Description

Foundations of a possibly square late Medieval building discovered under the surface of field. The walls were of chalk blocks about 1m thick and about 4ft high. The site was excavated by the owners of the farm and the state of the site is not known. In the area around the site a number of medieval findspots have been also located of tile and brick.(1)
