Full Description
[TQ 73593253] An iron furnace at Frith, Hawkhurst parish, was situated at Lat. 51o 3' 55' N., Long Oo 28' 40' E. No records have been traced, but local field names apply to it. There is a good bay and the site of the pond above is clearly defined. Below the bay is a quantity of slag, and a small circular round of broken brick. Hill and cinder looks like the debris of the actual furnace. (1) The remains are as described above,. The small circular mound of broken brick, etc., is at TQ 73623252 and is clearly the site of the Furnace House. Surveyed at 1.2500. (2)
