Full Description
Site of ROC underground post for monitoring nuclear explosions and fallout. Built in 1962 and abandoned in 1968. Since then it has been destroyed in 1997.(1)
The site of a Royal Observer Corps monitoring post. The site is located in the rear garden of 1 Edgeler Court. The site was built as part of an extensive network of posts designed to confirm and report hostile aircraft and nuclear attacks on the United Kingdom. At the time of the Defence of Britain survey (1995-2002) the site was found to have been destroyed. The site was opened during 1962 and closed in October 1968. The post was demolished in 1997 during the construction of a new housing estate despite early plans to retain it then as a garden feature. (1-2)
