Summary
Several pieces of iron slag, probably of Roman date, were found during fieldwalking at Court Meadow, Lenham. Roman coins and pottery and two large dressed stones have also been reported here.

Full Description
A brief field survey of Court Meadow, Lenham was carried out by members of the Maidstone Area Archaeological Group in July 1999. Several pieces of iron slag were recovered, of a density of one piece every 3m in the western part of the field. The slag was interpreted as being of Roman date on the basis of its similarity to other slag found in the area (1)
Roman coins and pottery and two large dressed stones have also been reported here.(2)
