Full Description
[TQ 75924780] Four items of pottery were dredged from the River Beult, by Stile Bridge at Linton in July 1958. Besides two fragments of buff-coloured mortaria and half an olla of black-grey ware, there is a bowl of brown-grey fabric suggested by P. Tester as late first century B.C. The pottery is now in the Maidstone Museum. Acc. No. 34.1958. Presented by the Kent River Board. (1) These dredging operations were made in advance of the building of a weir centred TQ 75804777 but no information which would provide a more accurate siting was obtained locally or at Maidstone.
