Monument record TR 15 NW 627 - Post-Medieval Clamp Kiln, Quarries, and Terrace, Station Road West
Summary
Evaluation prior to proposed development. Although all pre-medieval features in the area seem to have been destroyed, a number of medieval and post-medieval features were found. The main find was of a burnt hard clay layer, believed to be part of a clamp kiln about 4m north-south and 5m east-west. Although no whole bricks were found, the fabric and dimentions of pieces recovered suggest a 17th century date.
