Monument record TR 15 NW 631 - Early Roman Roads, 68- 69a Stour Street and Adelaide Place
Summary
Excavations at 68-69a Stour Street known as Cakebread Robey 4, and at Adelaide Place known as Cakebread Roby 5. In area CB/R5, sealing earlier kilns or ovens, was a dump of brickearch cAD70-80 capped by a later of rammed gravel deposit. Associated with this was a narrow Roman Street, really 2m wide, running roughly north-west/south-east. A second street found in area CB/R4 was probably contemporary. Both were later covered by the temple complex and had bee remetalled atleast three times (TR 15 NW 110).
