During excavations in 1980-81 at the CB/R4 site two possible hall houses were excavated separated by a large flint wall, on the frontage of the site. The frames of both houses rested on small, low dwarf walls. The floors were of brickearth or clay, and each house had a central hearth. Once house had a detached kitchen which contained a well preserved bread oven. Both structures were demolished in the mid to late 17th century. Part of one of the buildings was preserved to cover part of a donkey track (TR 15 NW 638).
