Monument record TR 35 NW 248 - 13th Century Building (Remains Of)
Summary
A series of clay floors and floor repairs, made up from redeposited brickearth. A number of the earliest show signs of burning. Front and back walls defined by shallow slots, however towards the northern end of the northern trench the wall was defined by a ragstone post pad, indicating the position of a timber upright. Within the underlying deposits there was a peg tile, therefore the floor surface is unlikely to be earlier than 13th century. There is no given date of destruction/abandonment, however it is possible that it occurred during the time of the 1457 raid or the early 16th century as the Wantsum Channel silted up and took away the prosperity of the area.
