(TQ 50774621) Early Iron Age Potsherds found AD 1931 (NAT) (1) Six sherds of Iron Age pottery, identified by C F C Hawkes as Middle La Tene, found in 1929 in the sand pit opposite Chested House (NE of) Chiddingstone. They were found close together at a depth of about 18 inches. (see illus) (2,3) Pottery in Sevenoaks Museum. More found in 1931. (4) The findspot falls within a now disused sandpit. (5) TQ 5046. One large sherd, a stray find from Chested-Chiddingston, ? is in the possession of Dr Gordon Ward and is an example of the fine ware pottery of the La Tene period. Not seen. (6)
