Full Description
The former existence of a moat at TQ 74054935 was noted by the Hon. H.Hannen in 1905. The moat enclosed a house, known locally as 'Bonfleurs' and shown on the Ordnance Survey map of the period as 'Burnt Flowers' (TQ 74054935) (2) and a large barn. The house, a late 14th century or early 15th century building, was demolished sometime between 1924 and 1965. (1,2)
Timber framed building, with a two bay open hall and wings jettied at the ends, probably built in the late 14th or early 15th century. The hall was divided in 1586 and the whole building was demolished after 1924.
