C18TH, 1 STOREY TARRED WEATHERBOARDING. HIPPED TILED ROOF.

A heritage impact assessment of the property was carried out in 2022 and a historic building appraisal in 2023, in advance of the rebuild and conversion of the stables into a workshop space. The stables date from the mid-late 18th or early 19th century and are constructed from an L-shaped timber frame, with brick floors and brick wall foundations. The walls were largely post-and-stud building timber framing and were clad with weatherboarding. The building was originally in use as a stables before falling into disrepair, and contained a number of features relating to its function. These included hay mangers, feed troughs, a room to the east which originally contained a cart and two separated stalls to the west which housed animals. Evidence was identified of both stall doors during the appraisal. (1, 2)
