Full Description
An urn containing bronze implements and ornaments was dug up on a farm called the "Haye" or "Hayeden" a mile from the junction of the rivers Buelth and Teise in 1858. [Classified as Roman by the writer by illustration is that of BA implements.] (1) A hoard of Late Bronze Age objects, possibly 13, including a socketed axe, sickle, pins, rings and bracelets discovered in an earthen vessel at Marden. Now in Maidstone Museum. (2) This hoard is on display in Maidstone Museum; the urn has been lost. It is a founder's hoard consisting of the lower half of a socketted axe, a sickle, the trumpet terminal of a torque, a belt slider?, four pins, numerous fragments of rings, bracelets and knives, a "jet" and some "cakes". No information regarding the exact provenance was obtained. (3) Additional bibliography. (4-6)
