Findspot record TQ 75 NE 26 - Mesolithic Flint Implements found in the front garden of 16 Monkton Lane, Maidstone

Summary

Two Mesolithic flint hammerstones, flint flakes and a flint end scraper were found in the front garden of 16 Monkton's Lane, Maidstone, in 1948. They were stated to be found together at a depth of one foot. A further search of the front garden revealed no more implements.

Full Description

Two Mesolithic flint hammerstones, flint flakes and a flint end scraper in Maidstone Museum (Accession number 29/1951) were found by Mr. Parsons in his front garden at 16 Monkton's Lane, Maidstone on 14.7.1948. He indicated the findspot at TQ 7547 5704, and stated they were found together at a depth of one foot. A further search of the front garden revealed no more implements. (1)
