Full Description
A hoard of 58 sestertiae (Domitian - Commodus), now on display in Maidstone Museum (no accession number), were found on December 23rd, 1935, by Mr. Bill Kemp, whilst an electric cable was being laid to the new wing of the Ophthalmic Hospital in Church Street, Maidstone. Mr. Buss, former District Mains Engineer, South Eastern Electricity Board, now retired, indicated the exact findspot beneath the pavement on the N. side of Church Street, at TQ 7616 5590. This siting also agrees with carded information held by the Board. (1) Additional bibliography. (2-3)
