Findspot record TQ 75 NE 54 - Romano-British bronze figurine & 2 coins, found near Boxley Road, Maidstone
Summary
A Roman bronze figurine of Mercury and two large brass coins were found circa 1826 in the grounds of Mr. Lamprey on the Boxley Road, about a quarter mile out of Maidstone,"at a short distance from Wheler's Street." A map of Maidstone dated 1821 shows a piece of ground belonging to "S. Lamprey Esq." in Boxley Road to which the finds have been sited. No further information concerning the circumstances of the discovery has come to light.
