Summary

St Mary the Virgin, Speldhurst; nothing of the medieval church remains visible except part of the north wall of the tower and some fragments built into the north-east vestry. A second church c.1797 was entirely replaced in 1870-1. The roof structure is unusual, trefoiled in section, with collar-beams and windbraces. Stained glass by Morris & Co. 1873-1905 with windows by both Morris and Burne-Jones. Summary from record TQ 54 SE 50: Grade II* listed building. Main construction periods 1300 to 1923
