Landscape record TQ 54 SE 25 - Woodbury Park Cemetery, Tunbridge Wells

Summary

A municipal cemetery laid out by a board set up by Holy Trinity Church, Tunbridge Wells, and consecrated in 1849. Due to the fast expansion of the population in Tunbridge Wells the cemetery proved too small. It is bounded on two sides by stone walls an entrance way all built in the 19th century. There is also a single storey lodge and chapel. Burials of note include Jacob Bell the founder of the Pharmaceutical Society and Henry Thomas Austen (1771 - 1850), brother of Jane Austen
