Summary

Remains of bank and ditch constructed around deer park to control the movement of deer. The bank is very eroded, but can still be followed along the western boundary especially along the boundary with Home Wood.

Full Description

Remains of bank and ditch constructed around deer park to control the movement of deer. The bank is very eroded, but can still be followed along the western boundary especially along the boundary with Home Wood.(1)

Boundary remains variable. North side eroded but has maintenance track (now public footpath) alongside and some ancient ash pollards, odd bits of 1890s iron railings. West side has eroded bank and ditch and maintenance track most as public footpath alongside. Some iron railing and iron gate towards N end and iron railings restored (c.1999) for a length at Park Gate end. South side has high bank from Castle Farm to Beechen Wood, iron railings survive between Home Wood and Beechen with lengths restored (c.1989, 1999). Part near wicket gate TQ51436396 has name A and J Main, Glasgow on it. Rest of bank eroded to SW corner. Original ladder stile in iron railing at TQ50996397(2, 3)
