Full Description
In 1993 a watching brief was undertaken by Canterbury Archaeological Trust on the fields to the east of Canterbury Hill and St Stephens Hill, Tyler Hill. A Scandinavian Schist hone or sharpening stone, which was found on the north bank of the stream. Schists hones were imported between the 10th and 15th century but this is more likely to date between the 13th and 14th century due to the proximity of the find to Medieval pottery of this date. (1)
