Full Description

In 1993 a watching brief was undertaken by Canterbury Archaeological Trust on the fields to the east of Canterbury Hill and St Stephens Hill, Tyler Hill. On the boarder between fields D/E, a deep hole was dug for a man-hole. Fragments of tile and fired daub were recovered in the hole. It is possible that this was the site of either a back-filled clay pit or now vanished boundary pit.(1)
