Monument record TQ 76 NE 390 - Melville Hospital (Site of), Chatham
Summary
Site of large naval hosptial built in 1872 for sailors and marines. It was preplaced in 1905 by a new hopsital in Gillingham and the site was eventually taken over as an extention to the Royal Marines' Barracks. In the 1960's most of the buildings on the site were demolished and council flats built.
