Findspot record TR 36 NW 391 - Bronze Age axehead, near Cleve Court, Manston

Summary

The top half of a Bronze Age axehead was found during arcaheological excavations in 1994 prior to development at the Kent International Business Park. The axehead was identified as of a transitional type between flanged axes and palstaves. The artefact is thought to date from the middle to late Bronze Age. A Bronze Age spearhead was found in close proximity to this find during a metal detecting survey (see TR 36 NW 390).

Full Description

During an evaluation in 1994 a fragment of mid-late bronze age axehead was found. The form is transitional between flanged axes and palstaves. The location is close to a spearhead (TR 36 NW 390) found on the same excavation.
