Monument record TR 36 NW 424 - Undated rectangular enclosure, Hartsdown, Near Margate

Summary

A sub-circular enclosure with a causeway entrance found during an archaeological evaluation in 1995. The enclosure had internal features including post holes and the remains of a wall built of large flints. The date of this monument is uncertain: not only were a few prehistoric sherds discovered at the site, there was also a piece of late medieval glazed sherd pottery and a possible fragment of Roman glass. Cropmarks of a sub-rectanguar enclosure are visible on aerial photographs.
