Summary

Part of a perforated stone hoe or adze was found in March 1969 in Reynolds Lane, by Caenwood Farm, Southborough. The artefact was discovered after ploughing in fields. At the time the farmer reported having seen similar implements in the general area during previous ploughing operations, but had thought them to be of no significance to them. No finds have since been reported in the area.

TQ 578411 Part of a perforated stone hoe or adze was found in March 1969 by Mrs. C. Wiles in Reynolds Lane, by Cairnwood Farm, Southborough. Sectioned. Felspathic grit not attributable to any known group. County No. Kent 43. (1) Mr Funnell of Caenwood Farm, indicated the exact find-site of this implement at TQ 57624105. It was found by his daughter after he had ploughed the field, and given to Mrs. Wiles. Funnell made a most interesting observation that he had seen similar implements about the general area when ploughing in the past without attaching any significance to them. Nothing further was found, however, in perambulation. (2) Additional bibliography. (3)
