Full Description
[TQ 74895674] ROMAN VILLA [R] (Site of) [NAT] [Not listed as a villa, bath-house or building] (1-2) At Little Buckland Farm, Maidstone, "foundations of an apparently extensive Roman Villa" or "species of terrace" were observed when planting an orchard c.1835. Nothing more is known of this site. (3) Further Ro. pottery and tiles are recorded as having been found when Sharps's Sports Ground was being laid out in 1930 (a) (The Ground is centred at TQ 74865655). Neither Mr. Reeves nor Mr. Honeyman, both of whom were employed on the construction of the Sports Ground could remember any such finds being made, and Mr. Jack Hubble, owner of the land pr-1930, could offer no information.
