Full Description

During development work footing walls and a probable brick-lined basement were recorded immediately north of Church Lane and fronting Princes Street. The basement was filled with rubble. The red brick wall footings of this rectangular building, representing the south and east wall of the building, had been built directly upon earlier foundations of mortared flint nodules and early brick fragments. This unknown structure was possibly built in the 18th century and replaced by the later brick building during the early 19th century (1).
