[TQ 73125613] St. Lawrence's Chapel [NR] AD 1400. (1) Chap. [NR] (Remains of) [NAT] [Small rect. roofed bldg. shown oriented E-W]. (2) St. Lawrence's Chapel [NR] (Site of) [NAT]. (3) The chapel of St. Lawrence at Longsole is of uncertain foundation. There are records of priests being presented to it from 1330 to 1462 but nothing after that date. An inquiry was held in 1422 to determine in what parish it was placed. It was often referred to as the Hermitage of Longsole and the last use of the name was in 1639. The Chapel was suppressed 1545-7. The lords of Allington Castle were the patrons. (4) First mentioned at the beginning of the 13th c. (5) Free chapel, chantry or hermitage of St. Lawrence de Longsole or Langsole. (6) Nothing remains of the chapel at the site. (7) Checked and correct. (8)
