It consisted of two wards, for 24 patients, an administration block with wash house, laundry, disinfecting house, ambulance house and small mortuary. a hospital for infectious diseases. It went through a number of phases of redevelopment particularly in 1915 when a new sanatorium was erected along with two pavilions, by the War Office, for the treatment of troops in the area with infectious diseases.
