Summary

At sometime during the 1980's metal detetorists recovered an number of coins and a brooch all dating to between the 6th and 8th centuries AD on the edge of Eastry. The exact location and distribution of the finds is not known.

Full Description

At sometime during the 1980's metal detetorists recovered an number of coins and a brooch all dating to between the 6th and 8th centuries AD. The exact location and distribution of the finds is not known. The detectorists nolonger have the finds. The finds included two gold coins, a tremissis and a pada type, a number of silver sceattas and a metal bird brooch. The coins all seemed to date from the 7th to 8th centuries while the brooch dated to the 6th century. An unknown number of 3rd and 4th century coins were also found. (TR 35 SW 213).(1)
