Monument record TQ 57 NE 108 - Cesspit and man-made watercourse at Station Road, Greenhithe

Summary

The archaeological evaluation revealed a man-made watercourse, aligned north-south on the southeast of the study site. It can be identified with a watercourse, on the 1869 OS Map, leading into the Thames. Two cess pits, cut into the underlying gravel, at the same height as the channel, are contemporary and related to the gradual residential use of the site in the 19th century.
