In 2007 the Trust for Thanet Archaeology carried out an evaluation and a watching brief of the site. Two of the evaluation trenches encountered archaeological remains relating to the Anglo-Saxon period. A sunken featured building with a posthole was partially excavated. 3 sherds of pottery along with oyster, mussel and limpet shells were found within the building. An undated linear gully was also found and may be part of a field system. (1)

The watching brief on the foundation trenches for the new buildings on the site recorded a second sunken featured building to the south of the first. It consisted of a rectangular feature orientated roughly northwest-southeast. It possibly had a beam slot associated with it, perhaps for a timber lining, along with a posthole and two stakeholes in the base. A sherd of organic tempered pottery was found, dating to the 7th century. (2)
