Summary

The building dated to 1845, when it was founded as Sandgate National School. It underwent a number of changes of use before it became the home of Sandgate Sea Cadets in the 1940s. The building was demolished between 2007 and 2008.

Full Description

Founded as Sandgate National School in 1845, the building was later modified when it became the home of the First Cinque Ports Volunteer Artillery No 8 Company from 1866, used as a Drill Hall/Village Hall, before its final phase from the 1947 to 2003 as the base of the Sandgate Sea Cadets. In 2005 and in 2007, building surveys and a documentary survey were carried out ahead of the demolition of all standing buildings on the site. (1-2)
