The following text is from the original listed building designation:
1. 1715 HIGH STREET (South Side)
Nos 3 & 5 (Ye Olde Cellars Inn) TQ 8833 1/2 8.5.50.

2. C18. Built originally as the residence and shop of a wine merchant. 2 parallel ranges. 2 storeys, built in 2 sections. The east section has a higher front with parapet, a 3-light bay window on each floor with glazing bars intact, and a doorcase with pilasters, open pediment and a semi-circular fanlight. The west section, a timber-framed structure, has a moulded wooden eaves cornice and a half-hipped end to the roof. The 1st floor has been refaced with curved tiles, a modern door inserted and glazing bars are missing. No 5 consists of the end window bay at the west end and projection beyond with a pentice roof which leads to a C19 building behind.
Nos 3 to 7 (odd) form a group.
