The following text is from the original listed building designation:
1. 5272 BETHERSDEN SMARDEN ROAD Oasthouse at Tearnden Farm to north-east of weatherboarded barn TQ 94 SW 14/42B II 2. C19. One cylindrical brick oast with conical tiled roof, cowl and fantail. Attached to a 2 storeyed building, the ground floor of brick, the 1st floor weatherboarded with tiled roof.
