Full Description
TQ 504428. An area measuring some 30m by 80m in a field on Oakenden Farm is heavily impregnated with tap slag, cinder and charcoal. Surface finds of pottery included one Samian and one Nene Valley sherd, probably 2nd century. Large depressions in the vicinity are almost certainly ore pits. (1) The bloomery at Oakenden is listed as dating from 100-200 A.D. (After Cleere 1975) (2)
