Full Description
[TQ 75545479] A beaker was found in 1892 on the south side of the Medway at Tovil when cutting a roadway down to the river from Church Road where Tovil Adult School stands (1928) (a) Add. ref (b). No further information was obtained on this beaker, a B2 or 'Burial' type, which is on display in Maidstone Museum. Tovil Adult School (an early attempt at further education for apprentices) is now a bungalow, No 38 Beaconsfield Road, centred TQ 75415473. If the Maidstone Museum text is correct it suggests the Beaker was found in Beaconsfield Road and not in the lane sited on their 6" but this was not resolved. (1)
