The following text is from the original listed building designation:
1. 5272 SMARDEN BETHERSDEN ROAD Granary to south-west of Hamden Grange TQ 84 SE 13/80A II 2. C17 or earlier timber-framed building with exposed diagonal braces, with some plaster infilling but mostly refaced with dressed ragstone. Half-hipped gable with tile-hanging. Tiled roof.
