The following text is from the original listed building designation:
1. 5272 HOTHFIELD BETHERSDEN ROAD The Paddocks TQ 94 SE 15/4 14.2.67 II 2. Circa 1800. Small square building of 2 storeys. White brick. The west, north and south fronts have 2 windows each. Each window bay is flanked by pilasters rising the whole height of the building. Wide bracket eaves cornice. Hipped slate roof with chimney at its apex. Round-headed horizontally-sliding sash windows with Gothic glazing. In the centre of the west front is a doorway flanked by narrow pilasters, with a curved pediment and a door of 6 fielded panels. Ground floor addition to the east. Probably built to house Lord Thanet's trainer or stud groom.
