The following text is from the original listed building designation:
1. 5272 GREAT CHART THE STREET (south-east side) The Cottage TQ 9842 26/4 II 2. Probably C17. Two storeys and attics red brick. Half-hipped tiled roof with 2 gabled dormers. Wooden modillion eaves cornice. Three casement windows with dripstones over and small square leaded panes. C19 porch, with shaped Dutch gable containing a cartouche with the crest of the Toke family, formerly of Godinton Park.
