TR 03 NE ALDINGTON GOLDWELL LANE (east side) 4/39 Goldwell GV II House. C16 or earlier, extended and clad C17- C20. Timber framed and part exposed with red brick infill, part clad with red brick and tile hanging. Extended with red and blue chequered brick. Plain tiled roofs. Front elevation (e Cl9) 2 storeys on plinth with hipped roof and stack to rear right. Regular fenestration of 2 sashes on each floor, with cambered heads on ground floor, with blocked central window space on 1st floor, and central half-glazed door with rectangular fanlight and flat hood on brackets. Left return (rear wing) with exposed small panel frame, and 2 storey C20 hipped brick extension. Right return part tile hung with irregular wooden casements and 1 glazing bar sash to ground floor. Internal well head exposed in cellar. Goldwell was the family home of Thomas Cobb, who died here 1528. Cobb's Hall (item 4/51 ) which was supposedly built for him and associated with the Holy Maid of Kent (Elizabeth Barton, Cobb's servant), may therefore not have been the scene of the events tempus Henry VIII (See under Cobb's Hall) which have given that building some notoriety.
