The following text is from the original listed building designation:
BIDDENDEN SISSlNGHURST ROAD 1. 5272 Nos 1 and 2 The White House TQ 83 NW 3/79 16.8.62. II
2. Now 2 cottages. This was the parish workhouse, and on the north wall is a massive red brick chimneybreast with a stone let into it inscribed "This house was built by the parish 1779". However it is probably an earlier timber-framed building rebuilt and refaced at that date. Two storeys and attics. Ground floor red brick. First floor now rendered with exposed scantlings. Tiled roof with 2 gabled dormers. Four casement windows with small square leaded panes. Two doorcases with flat hoods over and doors of 4 fielded panels.
