The site is on a southern facing slope above a springhead. In 1936 the remains of a Medieval building were uncovered when a field was being cleared of stones. Substantial stone walls were noted which measured 15m in length and about 10m in width. Iron slabs appeared to have been laid over the floor surface and glazed tiles were also found.A scattering of Medieval roof tiles have been discovered on the site but no exact date or type of building have been confirmed. In 1951 when the field was planted with hops, some Romano British coarse pottery sherds were found. These are kept at Maidstone Museum. For information about Roman coins found nearby see TQ 75 SW 32.
