Monument record TQ 75 SW 15 - Site of Chapel, Barnjet, Barming

Summary

The site of a chapel built before 1487 is recorded in the gardens of Barnjet Manor. Originally built as a chapel for the manor at Barmynget (or West Barming) it was later esteemed as a parish church. In 1487 it was united with the church of Nettlestead as it could not maintain a rector. Soon after this the chapel fell into disuse and ruin. All traces have been removed in the following centuries. The site is incorporated into the private gardens of Barnjet Manor. No other artefacts have been found in the area.
